Tweet up with Shashi Tharoor

Shashi Tharoor is a well known person and need no introduction, when I got to know about the tweet up I was very much surprised in first place as I have never heard of any minister meeting a group of social networking people through internet in an informal session. My impression of a minister was long speeches which only happen at rallies and election meetings. This man was however different from other politicians. I became a fan of Shashi Tharoor after the tweet up.

It was informal and he was not carrying any baggage of being a minister or other achievements of his, he was very much approachable and responding to all the questions positively. This tweet up has changed my impression of politicians.

I always  looked up to people like APJ Abdul Kalam and Dr.Manmohan Singh who made to the highest office in the nation. I would love to become a politician but sad that there is no definite way how you can enter politics and do the required to progress as a politician, if you choose it as a career. You can serve the society best when you are a decision maker. I hope we have more politicians like Mr.Shashi Tharoor who is educated and has a positive approach towards the society.

Lessons we learnt from Recession.

We have seen a new calamity called recession in the last few months, it did not give us a warning on our weather forecast nor we can estimate the damage done. People in all parts of the world were caught unaware and were left questioning what went wrong. What actually went wrong? Why did this downturn happen? There is an old saying in Telugu which I would translate ” One which rises rapidly would fall someday”. The inherent intent I guess is that one should grow with stability.

Once tsunami struck we all learnt lessons from it, we brought in systems which would give tsunami alerts and help us in protecting our selves and minimizing the losses. I guess recession was more dangerous than that, as we may not have any warning systems in place and there is no immediate way of protecting ouself. We however learnt lessons from recession also.

According to me recession was a result of the credit expenses done by citizens in a particular part of the world. This credit expenditure created a huge hollow hole in the finance circulation in the world. This hole had to be filled which was done by the income of other parts of the world, governments have to shell out huge stimulus packages to fill in this hole. Finally we were able to come out of this downfall. The one obvious lesson we learn from this is “We should only spend when we have enough to spend”. Spending on credit would personally effect an individual’s finances and when done is large scale would effect the global financial system. And “Always save for a rainyday”. I hope recession never occurs again.

Popularity in India

When I started blogging I used to write blogs mostly on technical aspects, now and then whne something interesting strikes to me I would write it as a general thought. I always keep a track of the stats regarding number of views to my blog. When I was writing pure technical articles the number of views were very low. The graph showed very few spikes. One fine day a funny thought struck to my mind about some lyrics of Hindi songs which were really funny. If I start mocking them I think my blog would never end. I wrote a blog on an instance of these funny lyrics almost a month ago. Since then I have atleast some views everyday. I have not written anything else after that but the views are still striking.
Two things are certainly popular in Inda, movies and cricket. People love both of them. Many products piggy back on the popularity of these two entities. Ultimately cricketers and movie stars make money.

Funny Lyrics of Hindi Songs

These days I have come across some funny lyrics in various hindi songs. I don’t know who the lyricist is but …..hats off man. One such song is from Kambakht Ishq, the lyrics go like this…”you’re my baby but u r driving me crazy crazy boy…you’re my baby but ur driving driving…….continues. These lyrics are said to be from a hindi song, but what I understand is its neither hindi nor english nor any thing else. These songs are played on television and radio so often that they get into your brain and you keep humming them unconsciously. Every time I sing this song I just can’t stop laughing at myself saying what am I singing. This is real “emotional attyachar”.

There is one this song called emotional attaychar from DevD. I really dont understand how can someone think something so insane and proudly promote it. It is something like hammering from within….real emotional attyachar. You cannot understand the lyrics of the song until you read the lyrics on television…thanks to those music channels who display the lyrics.

There was a song being played yesterday, shahid kapoor doing some crazy dance in it….the movie name I could make out but the song title was so weird that I just could not pronounce….but my daughter loves all these fast beat songs, so I have to play them because that is the only way I make her eat her lunch. “Bache kya kya nahi karwate “

Summer Vacation

Am just back from a 15-day long summer vacation. Though this word is not relevant to me as I do not attend any school or college nor my daughter goes to school yet to have a summer vacation. I would still say its my summer vacation because I experienced the heat of the summer in this vacation. After coming to Bangalore from Hyderabad around 4 years back I forgot the heat of summer, the temperature of around 40 degrees …. It’s been a long time since I experienced this kind of temperatures.

It was a whole bunch of new experiences for me. I saw the whirl winds which go around in the northern parts of India during summer. I was in Karnal, Haryana and there was a sand storm one evening. That was the first time I ever saw a sand storm, till now I just read about it in books. The view from window is only dust all around, nothing else was visible and the wind pretty wild. This wild wind followed by heavy rain with hailstones hitting hard on the glass panes of the window. It felt like we were caught in a war zone . It was a never before experience for me.

The weather in Karnal had different shades in these 15 days, one day it was all cloudy as if we were in some hill station and the other day it was hot and sunny.Whatever be the weather outside it was fun inside our home. My daughter was all the time busy playing with her cousins and we elders were having good time among ourselves. These 15days just flew off. Now again same routine back to work. There is a saying in Hindi ” Phir wahi maidan wahi ghoda” :-)

Legally Corrupt

Politics…..is it a career ? If it is a career Where do we get training for it? Which are the universities which offer this course? Are there any internships available for it? What would be the average salary of this field?

Very few among the youngsters aspire it to be a career, these are those whose parents are already politicians or belong to an influential family.Politics in India is the most unorganised sector with respect to entry, appraisal and retirement.Let me think of some ideas to make it a better career.

How do we enter into politics? There is no eligibility criteria as of now, if we have an eligibility criteria what should it be? All the parties should follow this criteria, atleast for those candidates who will be our MPs and MLAs.

Firstly, no criminal record.  The politician should clear his/her 10th board exam. They should have a good social service record. Once a person enters a political party there should be training given to the person based on party ideologies and expectations from the person regarding responsibilities towards party, somewhat similar to the orientation program we get when we join any company.

As the seniority of a person improves there should be appraisal in the responsibilities towards the party and finally one prominent candidate among the lot may reach a position where he/she may get a party ticket and run for elections. The crucial aspect to observe is all the party workers are working voluntarily without any salary!!! strange. My logical thinking do not allow me to accept this that all the  people work only for their party  ideology?!

One leader emerges among these party activists who fight the elections and win. The leader might also become minister with a huge set of followers as his party workers. I am still unable to identify the driving force behind all this effort. There should be some financial gain somewhere. Let us assume that the leader who became the minister is corrupt, his motive behind becoming the minister is to make money and he passes part of his black money to his party workers also. I wonder whether the magnitude of this money is so huge that it can cater to the needs of so many party workers and the leader can also have something for him/herself. Are our politicians so corrupt?

Let us accept the fact that we have a huge bunch of corrupt politicians who are in politics only for their selfish motives. They have all the money hidden somewhere they cannot flaunt it boldly. Let us try to find an intermediate way where both politicians and citizens are happy.

Politicians instead of taking bribe illegally, we will make it legal. Let us have a payment system where  ‘EVERY MINISTER WOULD BE PAID EXTRA FOR THE DEVELOPMENTAL WORK THEY DO’. This is something like bonus for performance. The magnitude of the bonus should be able to compete the illegal bribe they take, certain percentage in the cost of the project they have executed. This kind of system of pay if brought into place even for police  it would raise their morale and reduce the crime rate in the nation.

Many of our policies in the constitution were made 60 years ago, there is a need of review to match to current day’s requirements.

Why IPL-2009 out of India?

dlf

Indian Premier League as it is known is gonna be happening out of India,What an Irony….It was a great show last year. All the cricket fans and movie fans were together cheering for their favourite teams. The event was much anticipated this time, but suddenly terrorists strike in PAKISTAN on the Sri Lankan team and security concerns come into picture in India. The event clash with our general elections.

The Home minister’s office says that our forces are not sufficient to provide adequate security. Our paramilitary forces are hailed to be the second largest in the world ?!Is it that our government not sure about the security arrangements that our security forces can make to carry out both the events successfully.

Leaving the security concerns apart let us see this issue in a different view point.Let us not see this decision as that of a government but that of a political party which is heading towards elections. There have been several terror attacks in the nation during the tenure of the UPA government which is a Congress led alliance. This gave BJP an election issue also terming the Congress government a failure in curbing terrorism. Therefore Congress is playing safe.

The political party do not wish to take any risk, because any untoward event in between the phases of the elections would generate an immediate impact on the votes for the party. They don’t wish to have any negative feeling about their party during elections. This is where politics effect sports.

What was shocking about their attitude was that the franchisees were termed as a ‘BUNCH OF CORPORATES’ who are making a publicized event.I feel very sorry that it is not identified that this event would inject liquidity into the economy by conducting such an event.

This decision will surely send a wrong signal across the globe.A signal indicating the incompetency of the nation to protect people of our nation and our guests from foreign nations. Yeh tho wo baat hui ki “Yaar humare ghar mat aana humare pados mei kuch kuthe hai jo tumhe kaat sakte hai,Unki waje se hum apne ghar mei kisi ko nahi bulayenge”.

Kaun banega Pradhan Mantri

ballot_boxElection fever is all round. The season of alliances and break ups has arrived.Showing of strength by the third front is one such attempt.I am often confused by this term ‘Third Front’.This term only comes into picture whenever there are elections around or there is any kind of instability in the lok sabha seat equations.
How helpful is this third front in taking the country forward. Both the major parties Congress and BJP have a prime ministerial candidate projected before elections but the third front don’t have any. All the major leaders in the Third front say that we will decide on the prime minister after we win.Are they not sure that they will win and will be in a position of forming the government?

Apart from this uncertainty all our political leaders are ambitious and want to become prime minister themselves. There are many contenders for the post of prime minister apart from the large parties. Ms. Mayawati is one major contender, her aggression in popularizing her party all over the country shows a very strong possibility of BSP emerging as a third major political party in the country in coming years. Mr.Sharad Pawar has great ambitions of becoming the prime minister. He was a prominent leader in Congress and a probable prime ministerial candidate of Congress until Ms.Sonia Gandhi entered active politics. People from Gandhi family have a wild card entry into the Congress party. After the wild card entry of Ms.Sonia Gandhi, Mr.Sharad Pawar had to quit Congress to keep up his ambitions.

They are the leaders who have made it evident that they wish to become the prime minister.Apart from Ms.Mayawati and Mr.Sharad Pawar,Mr.Lalu Prasad Yadav on a funny note said “Mai bhi pradhan mantri banna chahta hu, lekin us mei bhi time hai”. I am a great fan of Mr.Lalu yadav’s sense of humour. I do remember few of his dialogues while presenting the railway budget. He is hero of railways however.election-symbol

There are certain percentage of leaders who do wish to become prime minister, but they neither belong to a national level political party nor have a manifesto which they would execute after becoming the prime minister of the nation. Having such a prime minister who is not sure about what to do when he is becoming a prime minister is a total loss of 5 years of nation’s time. This kind of situation arises when there is a hung parliament. I remember the situation in 1996 where prime minister was changing very frequently. I had a problem because I was always confused in the current affairs quiz competitions i used to attend as a child then :-) .

There is no question in the competency of prime ministers who came into power in case of a hung parliament, but there would be no clarity of the course of action.By the time they decide on what to do there may be some problems in the alliance and the prime minister would change. This cycle of events continues hampering the progress of the nation. We citizens feel so helpless in such case where things are so much in chaos….left with no other choice than watching the developments on the news channels and discussing among ourselves and cursing the politicians.Hope this do not happen in this elections. Hope some party gets clear majority and there would be constant progress of nation in all aspects.

Problem Statement

Constant growth is the essence of life. Whatever be the aspect of life there is certain growth rate associated with it.The difference among various individuals is rate of growth.Few of us are quick learners hence faster rate of growth. It is the thought process of the individual which either leads to quick learning or slow learning.

If we give an analogy between a computer and human brain. In order to achieve efficient functioning of the machine and retrieve fast results from the machine it is essential to have a right algorithm which guides the process of problem solving. When we apply the same principle to the functioning of our brain we can put it this way. ‘There should be a clear understanding of the situation to reach a conclusion’.

Let us consider an aspect of child psychology, parents often complain saying that the child do not listen to them. The problem statement here says that ‘the child do not listen to us’,but the problem however is not that. The problem can be restated as ‘the child disagrees with the parents’.The reasons for this disagreement can be different can be different at different instances but generally parents tend to generalize it as ‘the child is stubborn and do not listen to them’.Which is wrong statement of problem.

Wrong statement of problem is similar to wrong diagnosis of a disease. If a disease is wrongly diagnosed the treatment for the disease would also be wrong which would lead to ultimate chaos. This applies to social, personal and professional issues also.
Job dissatisfaction is a result of the inability of the individual to understand what he/she expect from their job.Family tussles are a result of not communicating expectations to each other.

Understanding the actual issue takes less time but if misunderstood it will lead a tangled set complications.

Reality Shows

dscn23021
There are ‘n’ number of reality shows happening on the television today. Dancing shows, singing shows, matrimonial shows ;-) and also shows like Roadies and Splitsvilla on MTV. I used to follow some of these shows. Last season of roadies, jhalak dikhlaja and splitsvilla, I was a regular follower, rather I would even watch the repeat telecast sometimes. But this season I am not even aware that these shows have begun, though i have understood that these shows have begun through the publicity they get in news channels I am not sure at what time are they happening.dscn23691

  • Now I have discovered the timings, but I have a higher priority task at hand …my little angel Gargi, my daughter. She is a hyper child like a typical Arian, she want some activity all the time. Now she is my Roadie and my indian idol….who sings, dances and also does lots of adventures all the time, trying to reach the unreachable, trying to do the impossible and keeping me on my toes all the time. She is my star :-) .
